on holiday

As some of you may know in the rest of the world when there is a holiday in Europe everything closes! Well that was our luck today, but we actually needed just a quite day. That is what we got and it was nice to enjoy a little bit of life in a small village rather than the bustling city.

Andi´s host family lives in Schmolln, a small village about 1.5 hours from Dresden. We woke up fairly early in order to go to the Freiberg Temple with Hans Jurgen, Andi´s host dad. The drive was beautiful through the German countryside and we arrived at the Temple all in one piece despite our speeds on the Autobahn which exceeded 200km per hour (do the math, that´s about 125mph and yes he drove that fast because we were going to be late!)

When we walked into the Temple we were met by friendly faces. The Strigham´s from Spanish Fork who served in Curtis´mission and Andi´s MTC Branch president at the front desk! It was quite the site. Even though we had forgotten our recommends they were able to use the copies our friends Jen and Spencer had faxed to us from Mesquite where we had left them. In the session Andi also saw many members from her other areas of the mission and it was quite the reunion for both of us. The Strighams were quite surpised which was Curtis´ intention and it was fun to see them. Curtis also got to listen to the session in Czech which was something he had hoped to do.

After parting again with people we love, we went back to Schmolln to eat lunch and go visit Andi´s host sister Dani and her husband Tomas and their little girl Johana. Dani is expecting a little boy any day now and is ready for the baby to be here soon. Dani and Tomas took us to visit Andi´s host Mom who is re-married and out for icecream before we came back to have dinner with the rest of the family and visit. Andi enjoyed spending time with the Seidel´s and it brought back memories of her days her over 10 years ago.

Tonight it is off to bed because we have an early train to Karolvy Vary (Karlsbad) Czech Republic tomorrow! We hope everyone is doing well and we are thinking of you!

Thanks for the Mother's day card. I got your's and Kelli & Darren's on the very same day. They were both in pretty pink envelopes. Cool.

Tell Dani and her family hello from me.

I'm like Kelli. I took you to Europe with me, more than once. You should have taken me along with you. ha ha. Oh that's right, this is a honeymoon.

Have a great time,

Love mom

Kelli, we would've brought you along, but well, Andi didn't even like carrying the rootbeer she brought for Dani and my bag was FULL! (That doesn't mean he's not going shopping!) Maybe next time.... Love ya lots! C&A
