Okay, we tried to post the day before yesterday, however we had a small problem and had to catch a train... so here it goes...Tuesday May 15...
We woke up in the morning after sleeping in, a full 10 hours of sleep! Oopps! Oh well, we´re on vacation though. We decided we would just head down the street and find a bakery to get some pastries for breakfast--always a good choice in Germany. We grabbed a bench on the sidewalk to eat when we noticed a drip, drip, drip coming from the sky. That soon became what I will describe as a small monsoon! Yes we have both lived in Europe and should have seen it coming, but no we were soaked to the bone in just few seconds. We took shelter under a balcony because if we would have tried to make it back to the apartment we would have probably drown...ok I´m exagerating...Hiding out we decided we´d better kiss to warm ourselves up. That turned into...well a lot of kissing to be honest. You know what they say though, ´When in Europe, do as the Europeans!´ So we did.

After the rain subsided we went back to the house to change our clothes and grab a jacket before going site seeing in the rain. We hopped the 100 bus which goes all around Berlin to see the main sites. They are enclosed double-decker buses and we got the top front seats--a great view.
Our first stop was the Reichstag, where German parliment meets and we went to the top to see over the city. It was quite the view. Then it was on
to Brandenburg Gate, a stop at Dunkin´ Doughnuts for a hot chocolate and then onto the Siegelseulle (Angel Moroni´s wife) where we again climbed some stairs to overlook the city. The weather was letting up but it was still kind of cold. We then headed to Alexanderplatz and the Berlin Dome to top off all the BIG things to see in Berlin and finished it off with the most famous...the Berlin Wall. This was a really cool part of the trip for Curtis. It is a symbol of how some people have taken away the freedom of others. We are truly blessed to live in a place where we can be free if we do what is right and good.
The day ended at a local German restaurant with weinerschnizel and Berliner potato soup. We stayed until 10 and then decided we´d better hit the hay. Tomorrow is a travel day.
